Poetry of the Masters – Living Canadians

SPOTLIGHT ON: Living Canadian Poets

Writers will study the poetry of four different living Canadian poets. Each week will focus on one poet. The first week is for meet and greet, syllabus hand-out, poetry package delivery and more. Writers will read and discuss the poetry, and determine the voice, style and uniqueness of the poet. Writers will write poetry in the style of the poet, and read and share with the class. The poets we will study will be named at the first class session.

In this class, writers will:

  • read poetry
  • practice critiquing & discussion skills
  • critique and discuss poetry
  • write poetry in different styles
  • sharing your poetry out loud and/or on paper

Open to adult writers only. No prior experience with poetry necessary. This class requires writing/reading work at home.
