“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of light, it was the season of darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair.”Charles Dickens, A Tale of Two Cities
A Message From Vanessa
No matter where you are, no matter who you’re with – we’re together in the spirit of love, kindness, hope, and delight. We’re together because the words bring and hold us together. Though the nature of our gatherings continue to adapt, and the shape of our creativity shifts with new inspirations, we are still writing. We are still reading. We are still joined by the infinite and extraordinary magic that writing brings to our lives. Rejoice!
The Gertrude’s Writing Room family reaches far and wide, across waters and mountains, across pages and laptops. Thank you for the gifts that we’ve shared over the year, and for the gifts we will continue to share as we create onward.
May we take Dickens’ words to heart: best, worst, wisdom, foolishness, belief, incredulity, light dark, spring, hope, winter, despair. There is time for it all. There is always time to write about it. May we continue to discover the beautiful mysteries embedded in every experience – be they steeped in darkness, light, wisdom, foolishness, despair or hope. May we always write about them.
Honour your writing voices. The world needs them! The world needs you. Yule be with us as we saunter into another year.
Learn. Laugh. Love.
Peace to all! Thank you for being a part of our family!
